When I learned that my Fulbright-National Geographic Fellowship application didn’t make the cut in 2015, I quit my job and carried out the proposal on my own, traveling to China to learn about traditional Chinese medicine. When I returned stateside, I embarked a 4,300-mile road trip on my 1982 Honda Nighthawk. I dedicated this video, produced in collaboration with Adrian Stratulat, to my father, whose favorite axiom inspired the journey:
